We’re looking for a full-time Director of Accounting to join our Finance & Accounting Division.
In this pivotal role, you will oversee accounting functions that are essential to our mission. Your responsibilities will include:
- Oversee and direct accounting activities and personnel while developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting policies, operating procedures, and a system of internal controls that align with NH Housing's general and financial resource management policies.
- Manage the annual external audit process and maintain ongoing communications with the external auditors throughout the year and present audit results to the Board of Directors or Committees of the Board.
- Prepare and evaluate financial statements ensuring that financial statements are prepared in accordance with Government Accounting Standard Board (GASB) and that financial reports comply with various governmental and program specific requirements.
- Develop, refine and implement policies and procedures to ensure proper system controls for employees.
- Foster a high-performing team culture through regular coaching conversations, active performance management, and targeted development opportunities while engaging and motivating team members to achieve individual and organizational goals through clear expectations and ongoing guidance.
For training purposes, the first six months of work will be in the office. Intermittent remote work available after that time.
Your experience, skills, and education should include:
- Ability to read, write and speak English at a proficient level.
- Deep understating of accounting principles and practices, GASB experience preferred.
- Extensive experience with computerized financial and accounting systems.
- Advanced user of excel.
- At least ten years relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- CPA or equivalent designation preferred.
