New Hanover County’s Human Resources Department is seeking a professional, dynamic, and detail-oriented Human Resources Specialist who is passionate about fostering a culture of continuous learning, engagement, and recognition. This role plays a key part in shaping the employee experience by supporting the county's learning, development, customer service, and employee recognition programs. You will be responsible for managing training records, coordinating employee recognition initiatives, supporting customer service efforts, and delivering impactful training programs, including biweekly new hire orientation. Duties include:
- Coordination and presentation of biweekly new hire orientation.
- Creating and updating training courses and participant enrollment/completion status in various software, running reports and communicating with departments on training status.
- Promoting training opportunities, and preparing training agendas and instructional materials.
- Researching and developing training curriculum, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Facilitating county training programs.
- Coordinating the county’s recognition and customer service programs to include creating and updating reports, managing inventory of program supplies, and distributing awards and certifications to employees.
- Providing back up support to the department's reception area.

Knowledge, skills, education, training, and experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the functions of the role and successfully perform the essential duties, usually associated with five years in a role performing similar duties.
The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, is adept at learning new software systems, possesses exceptional interpersonal skills to effectively engage with diverse groups, and demonstrates outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
Prior work experience in the areas of training, learning, and development is preferred.None required. Hours:8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Must be available to work during emergency situations.
Compensation:
The hiring range for this position begins at $51,111. Salary will be determined based on qualifications.
