What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Teacher/Daycare position at New Hope Manor, Inc?
New Hope Manor in Barryville, NY is looking for a Daycare Provider to support our Mother & Infant Program. Our staff work to encourage the healthy intellectual and psychological growth of the children at our facility.
This position is 20-40 hours per week, depending on the child census.
The ideal candidate has flexability to meet the needs of the daycare.
The daycare operates Monday-Friday between 8:00a- 4:30p.
Your schedule will vary based upon the daycare census.
At times, you will be in the daycare overseeing children, and at times you will go WIC shopping with moms offsite for childcare needs.
Please note - the daycare is for clients only, not for staff children.
Childcare Responsibilities Include:
- Follow a full schedule of activities and discover suitable teaching material
- Balance your teaching between logical and social exercises
- Provide basic care and caregiving activities
- Use a wide range of teaching methods (stories, media, indoor or outdoor games, drawing etc.) to enhance the child’s abilities
- Remain in constant communication with Mother/Infant Coordinator
- Observe children’s interactions and promote the spirit of concord
- Identify behavioral problems and determine the right course of action
- Collaborate with other colleagues
- Adhere with teaching standards and safety regulations as established by the official sources
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
· Associates Degree or currently in school
· 1 year experience related to caring for children less than 13 years of age
· 1 year of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified by OCFS
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to multitask
