What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Advancement position at New Hope of Indiana?
New Hope of Indiana is seeking a Director of Advancement to join our growing team on the Northwest side of Indianapolis, IN. You will have a hybrid in-office/remote schedule. Relocation is not provided.
Your work schedule is general business hours; however, occasional flexibility is required to accommodate evening or weekend projects or events. You will report to our Chief Executive Officer.
About the Job: Director of Advancement
You will be responsible for all organization fundraising and marketing activities. You will work collaboratively with all levels of management team and program staff to continually develop and implement fundraising and marketing strategies and opportunities. You will also be responsible for heading up the effort to develop key external alliances by cultivating individual, corporate and philanthropic support while also promoting New Hope’s mission and programs, raising the overall profile of the organization.
What’s my day-to-day: Director of Advancement
- Develop and execute annual fundraising strategy and marketing/external relations plan in conjunction with the annual budget and organization strategic plan
- Supervise work of Development Manager and Communications and Engagement Specialist
- Attend executive team meetings as scheduled
- Attend board meetings as scheduled
- Provide staff support to the Development, Marketing, and Silver Cup Celebration board level committees as scheduled
Fundraising
- Achieve annual fundraising goals through the identification, solicitation and retention of donors, grants and financial resources
- Prepare, write and submit grant applications to foundations and corporations as needed. Work with finance team to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of awarded grants
- Develop and implement a donor recognition program
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date information in Network for Good Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform
- Regularly communicate with donors at all levels through a comprehensive stewardship plan
- Understand and comply with appropriate and legal nonprofit fundraising techniques
Marketing
- Regularly communicate with organization’s constituents about New Hope relating key happenings and new information
- Share the New Hope story with internal and external audiences through a variety of media sources including print, video, online and the New Hope website
- Oversee development and distribution of Marketing and Communication collateral
- Oversee the planning and execution of New Hope’s annual fundraising event – The Silver Cup Celebration

What you bring to the table: Director of Advancement
- Must have obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Five (5) years fundraising or development experience (required)
- One (1) year experience in a people manager or supervisory role (required)
- Experience securing major gifts ($5,000 ) from individual donors (required)
- Possess a valid Indiana Operator’s License in accordance with New Hope of Indiana driving record guidelines (required)
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite including Excel and ability to effectively utilize CRM platform (required)
