What are the responsibilities and job description for the Food Truck Specialist position at New Hope of Indiana?
New Hope of Indiana, a leader in providing resources and services to individuals with disabilities, is hiring a Full-Time Food Truck Specialist to join our growing team. Hours are 8 am – 4 pm Monday - Friday.
In this unique position, you will not only supervise our food truck program, but you will also mentor and train individuals we serve to work alongside you on the food truck. These individuals will help you in preparing and serving the food out in the community.

The Training Period:
You will spend your first two months employed by New Hope being trained and training the 3-4 individuals who will work with you on the truck. This includes teaching your team how to cook, menu planning, preparing food in quantity, delegating tasks, and on-site coaching. During this time, you will develop and maintain relationships with outside vendors, identify places to take the food truck to sell goods, and prepare to run the food truck during the season.
During the Food Truck Season:
You will have the use of a commercial kitchen located the community. Prior to the individuals arriving each day, you will be responsible for ensuring supplies for the day are on hand. The goal is to have lunch prepared and ready to serve by 11am. Once prepared, it will be loaded onto the truck and served at the pre-selected location 3 days a week. The primary item being served is macaroni and cheese with some variation of toppings. Individuals will be included in every step in the kitchen and on the truck. Coordination continues through the season with vendor relations, scheduling, individual learning, and maintaining permits. The food truck will be subject to impromptu Board of Health inspections.
How will I spend the rest of my time?
When you are not on the food truck (three days a week), you will get to take a group of four (4) individuals out in the community to do fun educational and recreational events in the community through the AIM program.

- You will work closely with adults of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities to help them live their most fulfilling life.
- You will be responsible for four people in the community on a daily basis
During the off season when the truck is closed, your hours will adjust to accommodate working full-time (40 hours) in the AIM program or any of the other Community Outreach programs to fulfill your hours.

What Qualifications do I need to be a Food Truck Specialist?
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least six (6) months of work experience, volunteer experience, or internship experience
- A valid Indiana Driver’s License
- Proof of current auto insurance
- Be willing to use personal vehicle as needed to transport individuals
- Must be willing to drive a box truck
- Must have knowledge of menu planning, food prep, and cooking in quantity
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Special Training, Licensure, or Credentialing:
- Must be able to obtain a Food Safety Handler’s license within thirty (30) days of hire (company will provide).
