OVERVIEW:

The Campus Residential Director (CRD) has the primary responsibility for oversight and supervision of all staff providing services to the ICF/ID.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

Reports to:      Chief Program Officer (CPO)

Supervises:     Residential Supervisors (RS), and Qualified Intellectual Disability Professionals (QIDPs)

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.    To implement the mission of New Hope through the provision of services that ensures the safety, health, and well-being of the individual.  Ensure that opportunities for community, family, and friend connectedness are made possible for the individual.  Plan and develop services on a campus setting that are responsive to individual, family, and funder needs and desires.   Assist in the planning and implementation of service transition for those individuals moving from a campus setting to a community home.

2.    Create and maintain organizational culture of trust, empowerment, and teamwork by:

§  Providing an example for others to follow

§  Being loyal, confidential, and supportive to coworkers

§  Enabling staff through the sharing of knowledge, effective communication, and providing the opportunity for their role development in the guiding of service delivery to individuals

§  Participating in agency-sponsored events

3.    Develop a competent, productive, and satisfied staff by careful supervision including selecting, training, scheduling, counseling, coaching, termination, transferring, promoting, demotion, and appraising performance.  Provide educational growth opportunities for staff.

4.    Manage funds by planning, developing, implementing, and monitoring the On-Campus’ budget for assigned areas of responsibility. Provide quality assurance as defined by policy for oversight of client’s cash and checking accounts.  Respond appropriately to identify concerns.

5.    Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify policies pertaining to the ICF/ID Program.

6.    Assure quality services by being knowledgeable of and enforcing applicable rules, regulations, and legal requirements.

7.    Assure that staff are adequately oriented and trained to:

§  Implement their job responsibilities.

§  Offer choice to individuals in their delivery of service.

§  Treat individuals with dignity and respect

§  Provide opportunities for individuals to be involved in the community.

§  Assist the individuals in developing a circle of friends.

§  Ensure training is timely and documented.

8.    To ensure value to the individual as a person by promoting people-first language, actions, and services.

9.    To utilize information from Quality and Performance Information System as well as Satisfaction Surveys to implement necessary changes to continue to work on continual quality improvements.

10.  Ensure that all homes are maintained in accordance with standards and rules, as well as kept safe and well-maintained.

11.  Work with staff committees as assigned and facilitate the involvement of on-campus staff as well.

12.  To serve as an important link in communications to parents by responding to all concerns and requests in a timely manner, and by actively participating in Family Association events.

13.  To keep well-informed of industry trends by reading and attending external information-sharing meetings to b able to lead through foresight and vision.

14.  To keep the CPO informed of staff and client issues, changes in on-campus services, proposed policy developments or revisions, and any significant information that may affect the operations of the program.

15.  Protect the privacy of individuals, staff, and New Hope by maintaining confidentiality of the records and financial information of individuals served.

16.  Relate well to coworkers and individuals; work well with the team approach.

17.  Will ensure the optimal delivery of care for individuals served by informing the CPO and problem-solving with her/him of the need for additional training, equipment, or staff resources to best meet their needs.  Will consult with the CPO if there are concerns regarding our ability to meet the needs of an individuals.  Will determine through discussion with the CPO that we are not able to meet the individual’s needs, their needs surpass the licensure/certification of the program, or the individual no longer meets our criteria for services and that a recommendation for inappropriateness of service placement should be made to the QIDP for discussion and recommendation by the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT).  

18.  Monitor and ensure an effective on-call system by assuming on-call responsibilities for one weekend per quarter each year.  Utilize knowledge gained to refine the system to ensure an appropriate back-up support to staff as well as a manageable system for the supervisors assigned the responsibility.

19.  Monitor and ensure compliance with documentation requirements by completing routine audits as defined by policy.  Respond appropriately to identified concerns.

20.  Shall adhere to all aspects of the New Hope compliance program.

21.  Shall ensure employees adhere to all aspects of the New Hope compliance program.

22.  Participates in the Administrator on-call rotation.

23.  Participate in required New Hope training, including all training required for ICF/ID employees.

24.  May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

 

SECONDARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

1.    Maintain professional competency by participating in continuing education, inservices, and personal growth experience.

2.    Promote the positive image of New Hope by participating in public awareness activities to ensure that the public understands what program services are available and training parents and volunteers.

3.    Acquire and maintain Class D chauffeur’s license.

4.    Lift and transfer mobility-dependent clients with assistance and push wheelchairs of clients as necessary.

5.    Transport clients for accessing services and participation in community activities as needed. 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; visionary and planning skills; organization and time management skills; ability to supervise and direct other supervisory/professional staff; decision-making skills; leadership skills; flexibility to oversee services that area provided 24 hours/day, 7 days/week; ability to develop and monitor a budget; knowledge of industry trends and concerns; knowledge of needs and services of persons with developmental disabilities and mental retardation; ability to manage multiple living sites.

 

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a valid driver's license, have a satisfactory driving record, and be insurable under New Hope’s auto insurance.  Must be able to provide own transportation for limited agency business.
