Job Description: The Rural Housing Outreach Specialist will perform outreach services for thehomeless population, including distribution of meals, clothing, PPE, hygiene products, and laundry vouchers. Assist individuals experiencing homelessness with accessing resources and making referrals; continue to engage with individuals until shelter/permanent housing is obtained. Identify needs and provide resources for local law enforcement, churches, family connection coordinators to include Narcan education and distribution. Develop good working relationships with government and community resources. Maintain client-related data tracking systems. Transport clients to appropriate services, as needed. Develop relationship with individuals; encourage and support client participation in relevant activities and events. Provide advocacy for homeless neighbors when barriers are encountered. Assist with planning and implementation of services that meets the clients’ needs and identify appropriate permanent housing options for clients. Other duties, as assigned by the CSS Director in partnership with the Randolph County Director.
This position may serve the following counties: Chattahoochee, Randolph, Clay, Stewart, and Quitman.
Days & Hours: Hours may vary, but this position typically works 40 hours a week (8am to 5pm), Monday through Friday.
Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED. At least two (2) years of experience working in behavioral health and/or the homeless population.
Preferred Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in the field of Human Services. 3 years’ experience working with the homeless population. A Certified Peer Specialist (CPS), or eligible to become a CPS.
The applicant may be subjected to a Fingerprint Based Background Check of the Georgia and Federal Criminal History Record Databases.
