Video Production Teacher - Summer Camp Counselor
- Training/Teaching: Teach basic camera and video editing skills to campers. Encourage campers to write movie scripts, news stories, or even a radio show! Encourage campers to be in front of the camera or try directing a news show. Keep campers involved, excited and having fun!
- Capture and Edit Content: Produce high-quality videos that highlight the unique experiences and activities taking place in the media center. Edit and enhance media content to create engaging and compelling stories.
- Deliverables: Weekly videos and/or podcasts respective to the activity being taught are due Friday Morning, ready to be showcased to each activity period. These projects will be distributed on our parent dashboard each Friday for campers to show their parents. The ability to meet the required deadline is essential and non-negotiable.
- Content Planning and Management: Movie-Making, New Horizons News Team, and Podcasting are a few of the most popular activities at New Horizons. Each respective activity must deliver a finished product on Friday. Create lesson plans for each activity in order to complete each project by said deadline.
- Equipment Maintenance: Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all media equipment. Ensure equipment is in proper working condition for capturing quality content and organized.
- Previous camp counselor, educator, or demonstrable experience is required.
- Must be available 8:45am - 3:45pm Mon-Fri.
Requirements:
- Education: Courses in Media Production, Communications, Marketing, or related fields preferred. Pursuing an Associate and/or Bachelor’s Degree in the above is a plus.
- Experience: Proven experience in photography, videography, film editing, AND/OR podcasting. Experience with content creation for a youth-focused audience is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating DSLR cameras, video recording equipment, video editing software AND/OR audio recording and audio editing (e.g., Creative Cloud). Knowledge of graphic design software is a bonus.
- Creativity: A creative mindset with the ability to think outside the box and develop innovative content.
- Flexibility: Activities rotate on a weekly basis. Ability to adapt and teach a new activity each week is required.
Head Counselors (18 ) Responsibilities
- Supervise Grade Groups or run Activity Spaces.
- Supervise Assistant Counselors assigned to your group or activity space.
- Ability to adapt to changing rolls, activities, and expectations.
- Attentiveness and a high level of energy is a must.
- Comfortable working with children.
- Must be 18 during Summer 2025
- Salaried for 8 Weeks - Summer 2025
Assistant Counselor (15-17 y/o) Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of our Head Counselors (18 ).
- Flexibility working in a variety of camp areas.
- Ability to adapt to changing rolls, activities, and expectations.
- Attentiveness and a high level of energy is a must.
- Comfortable working with children.
- Must be Age 15-17 during Summer 2025
- Salary for 8 Weeks - Variable based on Grade Starting in Fall 2025
