Duties
- Review and analyze patient medical records to assign appropriate codes using ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems.
- Ensure accurate billing by verifying the completeness of patient information and documentation.
- Process medical collections and follow up on outstanding claims to ensure timely payment.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in medical records or coding.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding guidelines, and regulatory changes.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to manage patient data effectively.
- Assist in the preparation of reports related to billing activities and coding accuracy.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical coding and billing, with a strong understanding of ICD-10, ICD-9, DRG, and other relevant coding systems.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
- Experience with medical records management and electronic health record (EHR) systems, prefferably InSync EMR.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with healthcare professionals.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is preferred but not mandatory.
