Position Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented In-House Associate Counsel to join our team in Trenton, New Jersey. The successful candidate will provide legal guidance and support to ensure that our members remain in compliance with state laws and regulations. This role is critical in protecting the integrity of the real estate profession while serving as a trusted legal resource for our organization. The position offers a hybrid work schedule, currently allowing for two days of remote work per week which is subject to change at any time; it is not a fully remote position. Limited travel may be required.

Primary Duties :

  • Provide legal advice and guidance on state laws and regulations affecting the real estate industry.
  • Monitor legal developments affecting real property, fair housing and business practices, and communicate updates to members and staff.
  • Develop and implement compliance programs to assist members in adhering to legal requirements.
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and updating proprietary real estate contracts for members’ use, policies, and other legal documents.
  • Represent the organization in interactions with state regulatory agencies, as necessary.
  • Respond to inquiries on legal and compliance issues.

Requirements :

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of the New Jersey State Bar.
  • 1 years of experience in real estate law, compliance, or a related legal field.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented individual with the ability to work independently when needed.
  • Excellent work ethic and attendance.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience working with professional associations or member-driven organizations.
  • Familiarity with New Jersey real estate laws, regulations, and state regulatory processes.
  • Travel :

  • Periodic travel may be required , within the state and nationally.
