New Lenox Public Library is looking for a collaborative, knowledgeable, dynamic, and resourceful self-starter to join our Library team. This part-time Adult & Teen Services Specialist role will specialize in Teen Services through reference interactions, readers' advisory, programming, outreach, and more. How You’ll Contribute:
The Adult & Teen Services Specialist is responsible for:
- Assisting patrons with myriad requests including computers, technology and other library equipment
- Providing research assistance and readers advisory to patrons of all ages while answering a variety of questions at the Adult & Teen Services desk
- Working with library team to plan Summer Learning Challenge and Winter Reading Program for teens and adults
- Maintaining library collection by evaluating donated materials and utilizing collection development to select and order new library materials; budgeting and weeding as needed
- May be asked to participate in additional departmental tasks/services, such as notary services, book repair, material donations, maintaining newspaper section, gathering statistics, organizing bulletin boards, developing displays of adult and teen materials, planning and implementing classes and events for teens and adults, etc.

Requirements include:
- Bachelor's degree from accredited institution or LTA Certificate or one-year relevant experience
- Customer service experience
- Public library experience working with patrons of all ages preferred
- Familiarity with both fiction and non-fiction literature for a teen and adult collection
- Knowledge of digital services offered preferred
- Enthusiasm to create a friendly, courteous, pleasant environment
- Comfortable handling multiple tasks and prioritizing workflows
Work is performed in a typical library environment. Must have valid driver’s license and proof of auto insurance or have the ability to arrange own transportation between library and other locations as needed.
