Maintenance Associate Job Description
Position: Maintenance Associate
Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-time; position involves working Thursday - Monday, 7:30 am - 4 pm.
Department: Operations
Reports to: Operations Director
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt
Summary
The Maintenance Associate primary responsibilities include performing general and preventative maintenance and repairs, as well as routine scheduled cleaning in and around the building and grounds as directed by the Operations Director. This also includes working with the Operations Director in a supportive role for larger projects.
Essential Responsibilities
Essential Function 1: Building Maintenance and Cleaning
- Perform daily cleaning as scheduled.
- Maintain janitorial supply inventory as indicated.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment based on predetermined schedule annually.
- Complete work orders as directed by the Operations Director.
- Alert Operations Director to any building maintenance issues beyond skills and abilities.
Essential Function 2: Groundskeeping
- Maintain grounds throughout the year.
- Perform seasonal maintenance including, but not limited to mowing, trimming, and shoveling/blowing snow
Essential Function 3: Other Duties and Considerations
- Maintain and regularly inventory all tools and equipment, including notifying Operations Director of required repairs and issues.
- Follow proper safety procedures including utilizing proper safety equipment and lifting techniques while performing assigned job duties.
- Oversee and direct shelter guests and volunteers assigned to help with various projects.

Required Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of simple maintenance practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of caring for and maintaining vegetation.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
- Valid driver’s license; good driving record and proof of insurance.
Working Environment:
- Must be in good physical condition.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time as well as kneel, crouch, crawl, etc.
- Ability to walk up and down flights of stairs multiple times during work shift.
- Able to climb a ladder and work at heights of up to 35’.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work in extreme weather conditions, hot or cold.
