What are the responsibilities and job description for the Youth Leader position at New Life Group Homes?
New Life Group Home
· Mentorship and Support
o Build trusting relationships with youth offering emotional support, guidance, and encouragement to help them navigate challenges
o Redirect/ discipline youth calmly, firmly, and consistently according to NLGH policy and ACT trauma informed care model
o Be open and available for conversations with youth regarding problems, concerns, and success
o Foster a sense of community and encourage youth to express themselves in a safe and supportive environment
· Programming
o Create and implement engaging activities and programs that promote social skills, life skills, and personal interests, ensuring a well-rounded experience for all
o Lead group discussions and activities
· Youth Care
o Provide neat clean surroundings for youth
§ Youth leader is responsible for minor maintenance such as changing light bulbs, batteries etc.,
o Ensure youth perform tasks assigned to them such as house chores
o Assist with weekly grocery shopping
§ Prepare meals based on weekly menu
o Maintain household supplies and appliances
§ Ensure appliances are clean and well maintained
o Assist with clothing shopping as needed
o Complete laundry weekly including youth clothing, towels, kitchen towels, bed linens etc.,
o Provide transportation to appointments as requested by House Manager/Parent, Director of Operation, and/or NLGH case manager
§ Appointments include doctor’s appointments, counseling appointments, visitation, and any other required appointments
o Supervise youth at all times
§ Monitor and report youth absence/AWOL
· Documentation
o Maintain clear, concise and accurate records of youth progress and participation in activities
§ Report any concerns to House Manager, Director of Operations/Administrator
o Complete incident reports using clear, concise language
o Complete and maintain various logs as regulatory required to include the following log types: transportation, maintenance, phone, visitor, appointment, medication logs etc.,
§ NLGH nurse will assist with medication management & provide log to be completed
· Safety and Compliance
o Maintain a safe and supportive living environment, adhering to all NLGH policies, procedures, and regulations
o Maintain agency information in the home, post items when needed, place mail in staff office etc.,
o Conduct room and child searches when needed
o Report all safety concerns to House Manager, Director of Operations/Administrators
o Ensure all confidential information is kept secure
o Complete all required annual and quarterly trainings
o Notify House Manager, Director of Operations/Administrator of any staff or youth grievances
o Attend all mandatory staff meetings
· Conflict Resolution
o Address conflicts and behavioral issues with a calm and constructive approach, using de-escalation techniques and promoting positive interactions.
· Collaboration
o Partner with other staff members, including House Manager/Parent, Case Manager, Nurse and Clinician to ensure a holistic approach to care and development
o Administer medications according to Nurse instruction
o Complete shift exchange report with next shift Youth Leader
o Work cooperatively with youth assigned case workers and case managers from outside agencies
o Work cooperatively with schools, courts, and other agencies

Pay: $14.50 - $16.00 per hour
