Job Overview
New Light Counseling is seeking an experienced and licensed therapist to join our team as a clinical therapist. This position offers the flexibility to manage your caseload while providing high-quality therapy services to individuals, couples, and families. The therapist will deliver therapeutic interventions, maintain clinical documentation, and collaborate with our clinical team to support the mental health and well-being of our clients. This is a W-2 employee position with a competitive pay structure based on completed billable hours (client sessions).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual, couples, family, and/or group therapy using evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
- Conduct comprehensive intake assessments, including biopsychosocial evaluations and mental status exams.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on clients’ needs and therapeutic goals.
- Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
- Provide crisis intervention and risk management services when necessary, including safety planning.
- Participate in occasional case consultation or team meetings to ensure continuity of care and collaboration with other clinicians.
- Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards.
- Stay current with best practices in clinical treatment and continue professional development through training and supervision (if required).

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong clinical documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to provide culturally competent care and work with diverse populations.
- Strong clinical judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to formulate treatment goals and interventions.
- Ability to build and maintain therapeutic relationships and rapport with clients.
- Capacity to work independently while adhering to the practice’s policies and procedures.
- Flexibility to offer both in-person and telehealth therapy services, as needed.
- Ability to sit for extended periods during therapy sessions and supervision meetings.
- Capacity to focus on multiple clients' needs while maintaining thorough documentation.
- Mental and emotional stamina to manage challenging client situations and maintain professional boundaries.
- Mental and physical ability to fully participate in their client sessions and supervisions consistently, submit timely and accurate clinical documentation, and complete other administrative tasks and training as required.
Qualifications:
- Master’s or doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Active and unrestricted licensure as an LPC, LMFT, LMHC, LCSW, or equivalent in the state of New Mexico.
- Minimum of 2 years of post-graduate clinical experience providing therapy to individuals and/or couples (preferred).
- Liability insurance coverage in accordance with New Light Counseling, LLC requirements.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends, depending on client needs.
Employment Terms:
- This is a W-2 employee position with a pay structure based on the number of client sessions conducted.
- Employee is responsible for maintaining their own liability insurance and internet service for telehealth sessions outside of the agency office setting.
Compensation:
Compensation will be based on experience and hours worked, paid on a per-project or hourly basis. This is a paid employee W-2 position with sick leave accrual, paid time off and holiday paid time off.
