We are, a freestanding, physician-owned, comprehensive cancer center based in Albuquerque, NM with a satellite clinic in Gallup, New Mexico. We are an Oncology Medical Home, with a focus on early intervention for patient symptoms, resulting in low hospitalization rates. Our Physicians have won Top 10 Docs in the city of Albuquerque multiple times.
As a successful Medical oncology and Radiation oncology practice, we have expanded our medical practice to include Survivorship, Palliative Care, Primary Care, Rheumatology, Pulmonary, Urology, Surgical ENT, General Surgery, and Neurology.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant provides quality service to all NMOHC patients and physicians in a customer service-oriented environment. This position involves performing various technical duties for routine patient visits. As clinical personnel in a team environment this position requires effective communication skills for a cooperative office. The employee will be required at times to perform under stressful conditions successfully meeting the demands of a large patient population and physician needs. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions Statement(s):
- Greets and electronically logs in patients arriving in the clinic utilizing appropriate tracking events.
- Obtains patients vital signs including weight and height.
- Records patients vital statistics in the EMR.
- Escorts patients to treatment chairs and prepares them for the nurse.
- Prepares treatment chairs and exam rooms for patient appointments, keeping the chairs/rooms neat and clean.
- Moves patients between departments and accurately and efficiently tracks to assure good communication.
- Notifies patients of visit delays to assure good communication.
- Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures.
- Performs routine waived laboratory tests and sample analysis. Informs physician and/or nurses of critical results and documents appropriately.
- Replenish supplies/low inventory notification (duties as assigned)
- Dispose of Biohazard waste on nursing carts as well as near the nursing stations.
- Quality control logs
- Scribe
- Knowledgeable of treatments and procedures
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education and Experience:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma
- Certified Medical Assistant, CMA preferred
Computer Skills:
Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office, EMR and related systems
