The Supervisor Operational Technology (OT) Control Systems provides technical leadership and mentoring to the team responsible for modeling the transmission and distribution grid. Provides direction and guidance for the use of control systems such as Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS), Outage Assist (OA), and Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) to meet the current and future Electric Delivery (ED) business goals. Oversees implementations, upgrades, and business process improvement initiatives that support the organizations transition to a control system of the future. Responsible for ensuring project delivery to completion by fostering a positive work environment to successfully lead the team to accomplish project objectives on time and on budget. Provides support to grid dependent internal organizations such as the Energy Control Center (ECC), the Distribution Control Center (DCC), and the Diagnostic and Drone Center (DDC), and Customer Experience.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the implementation and upgrade efforts involving Operational Technology, for ADMS, Outage Assist, and DERMS, including working with teams of outside contractors, vendors, user groups, and utility peers to ensure Tampa Electric’s requirements are incorporated into future software releases. (25%)
- Lead the implementation of protection and control schemes for various interdependent field devices which interact and are controlled by the ADMS, Outage Assist, and DERMS systems. Provide engineering recommendations, design, testing, implementation and advanced applications Device Protection Coordination, Power Flow, Fault Analysis, Load and Volt VAR Optimization and Protection Validation. (25%)
- Coordinate the on-going troubleshooting and maintenance of the SCADA and distribution field devices as directed from the ECC, DCC and DDC (15%)
- Coach, counsel, provide technical leadership and develop employees to maintain a highly skilled, high performing, dedicated and motivated team focused on corporate goals. Provide employees with regular periodic performance appraisals. Ensure that staff members maintain an appropriate level of technical competence. (15%)
- Responsible for ensuring division engineers and distribution control operators are trained in the Advanced Applications areas of the system. Provide technical and user support to system operators, division office workers, division engineering and information technology personnel applications. (10%)
- Stay apprised of industry trends and enhancements, test system functionality, and maintain advanced application configuration settings. Develop use cases, business requirements and negotiate business and technical terms with vendors to deploy TEC’s first generation DERMS. (10%)

Direct Supervision : EMS & ADMS Modeling – 5 Modelers and ADMS Engineering – 4 Engineers
Indirect Supervision : Contractors and internal resources assigned to EMS, ADMS, Outage Assist, and DERMS deployment projects.

Key Internal : Electric Delivery Vice President, Directors, Managers, and Engineers; Paraprofessionals, Administrative Support Personal; Emera and other Emera affiliates, Customer Experience, Renewables, Information Technologies & Telecommunications, Legal and Procurement, Human Resources, Corporate Strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required : Bachelor of Science in in ABET accredited Engineering program.
Preferred : Master Business Administration or a Master of Science in Engineering Management.
Experience
Required : 5 years of Engineering in Electric Delivery or related experience.
Preferred : Experience with control system installations, configurations, testing, troubleshooting and deployments. Experience with products from one of the major ADMS providers including GE, ABB, Schneider, etc.
Licenses / Certifications
Preferred : Professional Engineering License in the State of Florida.
