What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scholarship Coordinator position at New Mexico Highlands University?
Under the broad supervision of the Financial Aid Director, provides administrative, supervision and implementation of all scholarship programs. Serves in the implementation of award programs to ensure awards and disbursements are in compliance with federal and state regulations and university policy. Assists the Associate Director with athletic compliance assurance of NCAA rules for athletic scholarships. Assists the Director with funds reconciliation and annual audit requests.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversees the implementation of award programs to ensure scholarship awards and disbursements are in compliance with federal, state, and university regulations and policy.
Participate in Banner systems/procedures planning and management.
Responds to inquiries and researches and resolves problems related to transactions handled by the department.
Serves as a liaison with other departments or units in the resolution of day to day administrative and operational issues.
Serves as a liaison with state, federal, tribal, and other agencies, as well as internal NMHU departments.
Assists with Reconciliation of all scholarship funds to assure federal compliance.
Assists Director/Associate Director with annual auditor requests and review.
Provides oversight and management of the Satisfactory Academic Progress scholarship review.
Serves on committees representing the financial aid office as assigned by the Director.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements
Associate’s degree in any field plus three (3) years of any relevant work experience. Combination of education and experience may be considered to equal 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of experience in Financial Aid (or related industry) in a professional capacity OR any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling five (5) years may be considered.
Experience: Knowledge working with Ellucian Banner software and Microsoft Office Suite
