About New Mexico Military Institute:The New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) is a state-supported, co-educational institution offering college preparatory education at the high school and junior college levels. With a student body of up to 1,000 cadets, NMMI provides a comprehensive academic experience complemented by Junior and Senior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs. The high school curriculum is fully accredited, preparing students for higher education. The junior college program facilitates cadet transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Additionally, NMMI houses the Intermediate Preparatory Academy (IPA) for grades 6-8. The IPA delivers a distinctive curriculum that emphasizes immersive, intensive, and hands-on learning in a structured environment.
Position Under the supervision of the Director of the Daniels Leadership Center (DLC), the administrative assistant/contracting specialist provides administrative support for all programming, training, and leadership initiatives specific to the Office of the Commandant. Additionally, the administrative assistant will affect the coordination and execution of contractual rental and utilization of specified NMMI venues. This is a 12-month, full-time, non-exempt position. The salary is $35,608.00 ($17.12 per hour). The job description is available upon request. Must be capable of working a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
Tasks:
· Supports all programs, training, and initiatives specific to the DLC and the YLCC, including cadet training and activities, camps, and other events as communicated by the director.
· Establishes and maintains manual and automated systems; maintains databases and files; correspondence, reports, and other written communications; enters work orders and job requests for the Daniels Leadership Center, and Yates Challenge Leadership Course.
· Coordinates with NMMI facilities personnel in support of event logistical requirements such as the preparation of chairs, tables, and other items as required.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
· Ability to obtain knowledge of office etiquette and processes.
· Ability to obtain knowledge of the NMMI Operations and Procedures Manual.
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to this position.
· Knowledge and skill in the use of computer hardware and software to include Microsoft Office Suite.
· Ability to work independently and receive and implement instructions.
Qualifications:
Required:
· High School Diploma or equivalent.
· Two (2) years of extensive clerical experience with computer hardware, software, and database management
· Promotes customer service and consideration of others.
· Presents a professional appearance as documented in the NMMI Human Resources Handbook.
· Strong desire to support a comprehensive and inclusive approach to experiential education.
Preferred:
· A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college.
· Experience working with community members/organizations.
· Military or educational experience.
· Bilingual.
