About New Mexico Military Institute:NMMI is a state-supported, co-educational college preparatory high school (accredited college preparatory curriculum) and junior college, complete with Junior and Senior ROTC programs. Robust and demanding academic, athletic, and leadership programs prepare the 900-member Corps of Cadets for the many challenges and opportunities they will experience within the Institute and beyond.
Position Under the supervision of the Director of Athletics or their designee, coaches assigned teams, provides leadership, and oversees assigned teaching duties for the HPER and PHE classes. This is an exempt, 10-month, full-time position. The salary is $52,000.00 – $56,000.00. The job description is available upon request.
Tasks:
· Organize, prepare a schedule, organize, and conduct individual and team practices, training, and competitions.
· Coach student-athletes by NMAA rules and regulations.
· Direct all aspects, areas, and components of the volleyball team (i.e., defense, offense, or various individual positions.)
· Coordinate all strategic aspects of the volleyball program.
· Represent the volleyball program to various institutional programs, externally to the media, government agencies, students, parents, and the public.
· Other duties as assigned.
Essential Skills:
· Ability to run a volleyball program.
· Ability to instruct classes.
· Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
· Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
· Ability to obtain knowledge and understanding of all aspects of NMMI classrooms and policies.
· Knowledge of NMAA regulations and guidelines governing the retention of student-athletes.
· Ability to lead and guide students in their areas of specialty.
· Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
· Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Coaching or collegiate level athlete.
Preferred:
· High school teaching certification.
· Degree in a related field.
· Master’s degree.
· Minimum three years of head coaching experience.
