What are the responsibilities and job description for the Access Field Assistant position at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival?
TIME FRAME: SHORT TERM, SEASONAL POSITION
April 7 to May 4, 2025
POSITION SUMMARY: The Access Field Assistant works with the Access Program Coordinator and Access Field Supervisor Program to complete field and site related tasks needed to implement the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival's Access Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist administrative and construction staff the with set up and maintenance of all Access Program elements throughout the site.
- Unload, move, and distribute supplies
- Pick up materials and run errands on-site and off-site.
- Assist Access Field Supervisor with the documentation of installations with photos and measurements.
- Work collaboratively with Festival staff from the Site and Logistics Departments.
- Ability to organize, prioritize and execute tasks with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle multiple demands at one time and perform work with frequent interruptions.
- Problem solve and “make it work” in an exciting and fast-paced environment.
- Have a positive and professional attitude.
- Ability to take direction from Program Coordinator and Field Supervisor.
- Be available to Program Coordinator and Supervisor through radio contact at all times.
- Keep notes for ideas and improvements for subsequent festivals.
- Perform all other work-related duties, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Using the Absentee Request Form, it is the responsibility of each employee and their supervisor to accurately report their absenteeism to the HR Office.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive issues.
- Must attend and complete any required training.
- Any document, computer program, design or other intellectual property created for the Jazz Festival belongs to the Jazz Festival and must be given to the Festival through your supervisor or department head at the end of each production year, or upon request.
- Must complete all required Feedback Forms and Final reports
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED
- Ability to traverse grounds at a rapid pace and drive a golf cart is required.
- Experience with and ability to use light duty tools such as screw driver, staple gun, hammer, tape measure, etc. is required.
- Ability to occasionally lift and large and heavy items, and occasionally climb ladders is required.
- Endurance for long hours in an active and high-pressure setting, working outdoors in all weather conditions including heat and rain is required.
- Experience executing complex tasks in a fast-paced, production/event/festival, environment is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Americans Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design is desirable.
- Knowledge of the Jazz Festival’s site, offerings, and environment is desirable.
