Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in coordinating surgical appointments and ensuring a seamless experience for patients. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and familiarity with medical scheduling processes. The Surgery Scheduler will work closely with medical staff, patients, and insurance providers to facilitate efficient scheduling and maintain accurate records. This is a new, orthopedic, surgery center with plenty of opportunities for growth.
Duties
- Schedule surgical procedures by coordinating with surgeons, patients, and hospital staff.
- Utilize computerized scheduling systems to manage appointments effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient files and ensure all necessary documentation is complete prior to surgery.
- Communicate clearly with patients regarding pre-operative instructions and address any questions or concerns.
- Handle phone inquiries professionally, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.
- Collaborate with the billing department to verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations as needed.
- Send patient estimates prior to surgery via Clariti.
- Assist in any matters to help our third party billing company process surgery center claims and facilitate payment.
- Support administrative tasks as required, contributing to the overall efficiency of the office.
- Assists administrator with credentialing of healthcare providers.
- Accepts case requests via SIS EMR.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an orthopedic office or surgery center is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical scheduling practices and phone systems is essential.
- Strong administrative skills, including proficiency in computerized systems for managing patient information.
- Knowledge of medical billing processes and coding is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on phone etiquette.
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
