New River Community College is a two-year state institution of higher education operating under a state-wide system of 23 community colleges. The college is located in Virginia’s New River Valley, which is also home to two public universities, and which has earned widespread recognition for the quality of life offered to residents. The campus provides modern, well-equipped facilities for the career technical education programs as well as for the college transfer programs. Approximately 4,000 students comprise the student body.

Duties:
The Financial Aid Manager is responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day management related to the planning, execution, and assessment of NRCC’s financial aid processes. Reporting directly to the dean of student services and serving on the college’s student services leadership team, the financial aid manager serves as the functional lead for the SIS (PeopleSoft) Financial Aid Module.
- Assist in the development of policies and procedures to ensure federal, state, and local regulations for financial aid programs are properly implemented.
- Manage the application process, need analysis review, awarding process, and data entry into the SIS/FA module.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and laws.
- Manage the authorization and disbursement process for all financial aid accounts.
- Work collaboratively with the student services leadership team to develop and implement strategies to support the mission, goals, and operations of the division.
- Work collaboratively with the business office to coordinate financial aid disbursements and account reconciliations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal financial aid programs.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct comprehensive financial aid programming to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Strong supervisory, decision-making, and effective problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience using tools such as PeopleSoft SIS (including the Financial Aid module), EAB Navigate, and/or Canvas.
- Ability to establish and maintain accurate financial records.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks; work in a demanding, fast-paced environment with changing priorities; and adhere to required timelines meeting work priorities and objectives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and others such as families, professional and support staff, and the external public.
- Ability to track program outcomes, set measurable objectives, and work toward those targets.
- High ethical standards with a commitment to excellence and integrity.

- Education in related fields or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
- Previous management experience in a postsecondary educational institution.
- Knowledge of curriculum content as it relates to financial aid.
