What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker (PT) position at New Skete Management, LLC?
New Skete Management, LLC oversees the operations of a Christian Monastic Community in Cambridge, NY. The Nuns of New Skete are famous for their world-class cheesecake and other baked goods. New Skete offers a relaxed and friendly work environment that is truly unique.
We are currently seeking Bakers to work in the New Skete Kitchens, and will consider both Full and Part-time assignments. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks involved in producing Cheesecakes and other baked goods according to established recipes. You will measure and mix ingredients, bake, cool and package the product before storing. You will document your work steps as required, and will assist in cleaning the kitchen, utensils and equipment used in the baking process. You will also assist with shipping, inventory management and Gift Shop operations as needed.
The schedule is generally up to five days per week, with occasional Saturdays, depending on demand. If you are flexible, we can be, and this is a great role for you!
To be considered for the role, you will have a high school diploma and have experience in food preparation, kitchen operations or a closely related field. You will also be able to read and follow recipes, measure ingredients, and use common kitchen equipment. You must be able to speak and read English, and have reliable transportation. You will also need to meet the physical requirements of the position, including lifting up to 30 lbs. regularly, and able to stand for several hours a day.
