High School ELA / Special Education Teacher at The Pinnacle School

What we offer :

Compensation : Base salary ranging from $55,000 to $60,000, depending on education and experience.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Develop and manage IEPs through the creating and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student with special needs.
  • Monitor student progress through tracking and assessing student development, making necessary adjustments to keep them on the path to success.
  • Responsible for managing challenging behaviors and implementing behavior support plans.
  • Work closely with paraprofessionals, support staff, and parents to build a supportive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Create a positive and engaging learning space where every student feels supported and can thrive.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Literature, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and managing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Valid Connecticut state endorsement 165-Special Education : Comprehensive, grades K-12 or Valid Connecticut state endorsement 015 : English 7-12 or eligibility for certification in the state of Connecticut
  • Strong communication skills for effectively engaging with students, parents, and staff.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Passion for Special Education, demonstrated by patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students with special needs succeed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small-team environment.
