POSITION SUMMARY
The MPRS Specialist will utilize a variety of techniques and interventions to support recovery and community integration. Provide individualized support and life skills in the community to promote independence, support, and skill building. Specialist assists and teaches program participants to gain access to all needed appointments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attend mandatory training sessions at orientation and annually thereafter: (Fire Safety/Prevention, Disaster Training, Suicide Precautions, Management of Escalation, Infection Control, and Cultural Awareness).
- Completes 18 hours of in house or out-of-house training; at least one (1) staff development training that addresses supervisory/management skills. In addition, attends an extra 10 hours of training annually.
- Complete 12 hour of psychiatric rehabilitation training/ orientation no later than 1 year after hire.
- Complete 6 hours of training in the specific MPRS model.
- Complete 6 hours of face-to face mentoring for new staff.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Attends monthly community/staff meeting and all other meetings, as assigned.
- Maintains confidentiality of information related to the individuals served.
- Link Individuals to community resources.
- Responsible for developing recovery plans, (IRP) Individual Rehabilitation Plan, and (CSP) Community Support Planning.
- Ensure all required documentation is completed in a timely and comprehensive manner.
- Collaborate with program participant’s recovery team and supports.
- Authorization and billing.
- Interacts in a respectful manner with individuals served, coworkers and visitors.
- Abides by all New Vitae Policies and Procedures

- Must be eligible for a PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse History clearance, and FBI clearance
QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A MPRS specialist shall have one of the following:
(1) A bachelor’s degree and 2 years work experience in mental health direct service, 1 year of which must be work experience in MPRS. CPRP certification shall be attained within 2 years from the date of hire as a MPRS specialist. OR
(2) CPRP certification.
(3) All healthcare workers in the City of Philadelphia are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19 unless they have a religious or medical exemption as per the Philadelphia Board of Health.
Experience:
A minimum of 2 year paid or volunteer experience in a behavioral health setting.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical Demands:
- Able to sit, stand, and walk for periods of time
- Able to hear ordinary conversation and phone communication
- Proficient in English both verbally and in writing.
Equipment Operation:
- Able to operate common office equipment, including a computer.
Hazards of Position:
- Slight risk of contact with blood-borne pathogens
- Physical acting out of program participant
