Senior Budget Analyst – 1 Position
Job Summary: The University Budget Office is seeking a skilled Budget Analyst to support both traditional budgetary functions and the transition to the new financial system, CUNYwork. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical background, technical proficiency, and a commitment to enhancing the financial operations of the university.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation, analysis, and monitoring of the university's budget.
- Support the implementation and integration of the CUNYwork financial system.
- Conduct financial analysis and generate reports to inform decision-making.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate budget forecasting and allocation.
- Provide technical support and training related to the new financial system.
- Identify and resolve budget discrepancies and variances.
- Prepare monthly reconciliations to ensure the financial integrity of various budgets and financial data.
- Assist with various revenue and expense projections analysis.
- Maintenance of various datasets for expenses, revenue, staffing, enrollment, and other indicators.
- Assist with special and ad hoc reports and analyses, as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in budgeting or financial analysis.
- Strong analytical and technical skills, with proficiency in financial software and tools.

- Budget Analyst – 1 Position
The duties of this position will encompass the following activities:
- Coordinate State and City capital-related exercises and plans.
- Participate in preparing, reviewing, and reconciling projects for inclusion in the University's Capital Request.
- Conduct detailed analysis of requests for capital budget allocations for State and City projects undertaken by the University Capital Budget Office, which includes:
- review of project scopes of work, including funding change requests,
- ensure project chart fields and financial codes are accurately assigned and consistently align with authorized budgets, maintaining compliance with financial guidelines and organizational policies.
- quantitative and qualitative analysis of project costs,
- and preparation of written reports with recommendations.
- Enter budget funds and coding into Enterprise Resource Planning systems, including Oracle PeopleSoft (including but limited to the State Financial System (SFS) and CUNYFirst application) and NYC's Financial Management System (FMS).
- Review and coordinate the submissions of capital projects to the State and City of New York.
- Analyze data and other documents to ensure completeness and compliance with capital eligibility standards.
- Prepare analytical reports and briefings on related programmatic and budgetary issues.
- Use the SFS and FMS systems to review funding requests, process budget modifications, and make changes to align the capital plan to the projects' budgets.
- Work with the Department of Design Construction and Management (DDCM), colleges, professional schools, and other CUNY departments to analyze and prioritize capital budget needs for inclusion in the university's capital request, the city's Capital Commitment, financial plans, and any other capital publications as needed.
- Work collaboratively with University community members and other agencies on financial plans, policy initiatives, and other budget-related matters as necessary.

- Financial Analyst/Accountant – 1 Position
The Student Financial Aid Operations unit is seeking a dedicated individual for an entry-level temporary position. The role involves supporting CUNYfirst (PeopleSoft) processing, including centralized financial aid disbursements, reconciliation for federal aid programs, student refunding, and Federal Work-Study (FWS) payroll activities. The position will assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, city, and institutional guidelines while facilitating quality customer service, timely payments, and accurate recordkeeping.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in weekly reconciliation of Title IV funds, refunding, and FWS payroll.
- Support the department in executing and managing weekly disbursement drawdowns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant guidelines.
- Coordinate funding and update CUNYfirst for scholarships and grants.
- Execute and analyze queries related to financial aid and student account processes.
- Communicate with college staff via email, phone, or Microsoft Teams.
- Update reference documentation for staff and review materials for colleges.
- Address ACH payment rejections or corrections and update CUNYfirst accounts.
- Process undelivered refunds and returned checks.
- Assist with notifications of outstanding checks and stop payment processes.
- Support federal work-study activities, coordinating with colleges and university staff across CUNYfirst modules.
- Assist with Form 1098-T Tuition Statement activities and related college inquiries.
- Troubleshoot student and college financial aid inquiries.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Proficient with the latest software, including Microsoft Office applications.
