The Assistant Vice President for Special Projects shall perform duties associated with a wide array of special projects at the association. Working in close collaboration with the Vice President of Program Development and Grant Management, the individual will be involved with program design, education and technical assistance, public policy analysis and grants-related research functions for an Albany, NY based statewide association representing not-for-profit providers of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Reporting to the Vice President of Program Development and Grant Management, this position will develop positive working relationships with association members, government officials, stakeholders in the disabilities sector and other human services fields to advance the best interests of not-for-profit providers and the people they support.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of professional experience delivering support and services to people with (I/DD). Understanding the administration, operation and programmatic dynamics of New York's I/DD service delivery system is key to this new role. Excellent research, writing and project management skills are preferable. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary. The successful candidate will be proficient in researching, designing and delivering in-person and virtual presentations.
The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of the public assistance and public insurance programs available to people with I/DD, including, but not limited to Medicaid, SSI, SSDI, and housing subsidies. Understanding the unique roles of these public benefits and the programs they are associated with is a plus.
Housing for people with disabilities is one focus area for this position. Experience working with the various types of housing options available to people with disabilities in New York State, along with housing stakeholder relationships, is optimal but not necessary.
Responsibilities:
· Co-lead the advancement of independent housing opportunities for people with I/DD.
· Assist with research, program design and delivery of inclusive supports and services.
· Serve as a subject matter expert in the programmatic areas specific to supports and services to people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities.
· Stay abreast of state and federal policies that align with inclusive support. Provide feedback on pertinent concerns and opportunities for public policy changes.
· Assist and provide technical assistance, and logistical support to NY Alliance members and the people they support.
· Align with human services, housing and other relevant sectors, both state and national, to support inclusive services and supports.
· Provide staff support to specific association Councils, Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces.
· Provide NY Alliance members and colleagues with written reports, presentations, and other materials on inclusive services and support best practices.
· Keep abreast of affordable and supportive housing opportunities including funding sources and ensure alignment with sector’s needs.
Salary:
$80,000-$85,000 a year.
Schedule:
Full Time, Monday through Friday.
Work Location:
In person at the Albany, NY office with a hybrid option.
