Summer Internship Program Parameters:
- Three scheduled start dates - May 22, May 30, or June 5.
- Prospective interns must be available to work until Aug. 11.
- Able/willing to work a 40-hour work week.
- 18 years of age
- Have a high school diploma AND an active college students of any status (undergrad, master)
JOB SUMMARY
As an NYCB/Flagstar Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn the daily functions and operations within our retail branch network. During this time, you will work alongside and interact with team members and leaders to gain real-world experience to learn our processes and improve efficiencies while expanding on the core concepts introduced throughout your college classes. Throughout your internship you will participate in multiple engagement sessions designed to enhance your career outlook, communication skills, and business knowledge while being responsible for the delivery of accurate and efficient customer service; resulting in an exceptional customer experience. Processes a wide variety of transactional services including, but not limited to; processing deposits, withdrawals, loan payments and negotiable instruments in accordance with the rules, regulations and guidelines of the Bank. Assists with client inquiries and expands client relationships by referring business to platform personnel and/or other lines of business.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs all teller functions including; processing deposits, withdrawals, transfers, postings to general ledger accounts, cashing negotiable instruments, processing loan payments, redeeming savings bonds, money orders, official checks and negotiates traveler's checks as necessary in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
- Responds to customer inquiries and provides information in person, by telephone and by mail on various accounts and other Bank services.
- Assists customers with routine issues and refers to management staff if necessary.
- Develops new and expands existing client relationships by identifying current and potential client needs and cross-selling Bank products.
- May assist management team member with the verification of cash shipments.
- May assist with ATM settlement.
- Provides an exceptional customer experience by utilizing Bank service standards.
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required.
- Where applicable and when performing the responsibilities of the job, employees are accountable to maintain Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and adhere to internal control policies and procedures.
