New York Farm Viability Institute (NYFVI) : Grant Manager
Job Description
The grant manager is a permanent, full-time, exempt position, to work closely with the program director, supporting NYFVI’s grant programs. This role will contribute to the development of the grant program’s Request for Proposals, and lead the organization’s oversight of the projects selected for funding including the contracting, approval, and reimbursement processes.
Additional responsibilities include :
- Build strong relationships among key staff at ag organizations to ensure widespread awareness of grant opportunities.
- Educating successful applicants regarding all reporting and documentation submission requirements.
- As needed, represent the organization at industry conferences, meetings, and field days.
- Support the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and other NYFVI staff in administrative and program activities as required. Perform other duties as assigned.
Characteristics of a Successful Candidate
Successful applicants will understand agriculture and agricultural practices; familiarity with NY agriculture is preferred. Strong business management skills, a high level of proficiency in Excel and demonstrated ability to learn semi-custom online platforms are required. Experience in MS Word, PowerPoint, and virtual meeting tools is expected. Attention to detail and the ability to design and implement effective processes are critical to this role.

year of administering competitive research and educational grant programs to support NY farmers and the food system. Recently, the programs have expanded to include grants directly to farmers and food businesses.
