POSITION SUMMARY:
New York Film Academy’s Teen Summer Camps provide intensive programs in filmmaking, acting, screenwriting, musical theatre, documentary, and photography for campers of ages 14 to 17 years old.
Under the supervision of the Director of the Teen Summer Camps, the Assistant Director is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations to ensure the smooth running of the Teen Summer Camps. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, scheduling and coordinating the various program offerings, assisting with staffing and training, assisting with setup and breakdown, and providing other logistical and operational support.
Effective Date: Part Time: 05/05/2025 to Seasonal Full Time: 06/23/2025 - 08/13/2025

Representative Responsibilities
- Create and maintain class schedules for online and on-campus summer camps on a need basis, as assigned by the Director of Teen Camps
- Assist the Director of Teen Camps with staffing and training across the various departments that make up the Teen Summer Camps
- Assist the Director of Teen Camps with the build out and break down of the Teen Summer Camps
- Ability to step-in and assist with classrooms needs on needs basis, such as attendance, class coverage, or technical assistance
- Assist the Director of Teen Camps with orientation and final screenings
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as answering phone calls and emails, printing materials, logging attendance, etc.
- Maintain and update schedules per instructor’s needs and availability
- Liaise with instructors, help determine classroom needs, and provide follow through to ensure instructors have the tools they need to be successful
- Assist the Director of Teen Camps in maintaining curriculum and ensuring deliverables are being met program-wide
- Assist the Director of Teen Camps with other scheduling needs
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Teen Camps or senior administration
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:
- A solid understanding of all NYFA Teen Summer Camp programs
- Ability to remain detailed orientated, while meeting deadlines.
- A strong commitment to and enthusiasm for engaging with youth filmmakers and mentoring their artistic ambitions and talents.
- Ability to work hard, respond to emergencies, and always maintain the safety and educational environment for the students
- Ability to maintain multiple projects/ tasks at a time
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds including students, faculty and staff
- A strong grasp of Final Cut, Avid and Adobe Premiere
- Strong technical grasp of film equipment such as HMC, 5D Mark II, C300, shotgun mics, tripods, onboard shock mounts, c-stands, boom poles, etc. is preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent skills in database management and record keeping
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to meet and serve the public, both in person and by telephone, tactfully and effectively
- Ability to work well in a team atmosphere
- Perform basic math
- Understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience providing technical support on film shoots and/or art events required
- Experience working in a fast-paced multi-tasking results driven environment with attention to detail.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites and GSuite
- Experience and comfortability with students ages 10-17
