Responsibilities

• Provide administrative assistance to the Adele Smithers Parkinson's Disease Treatment Center including, but not limited to, rehabilitative and restorative services.
• Oversee the daily operations of the Rock Steady Boxing program for patients with Parkinson’s disease. These responsibilities include: managing Zoom classes, regular communications (telephone and e-mail) to the program participants, managing the program schedule, obtaining medical clearances and program billing.
• Serve as the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Coordinator. Duties to include:
  • Respond to inquiries from callers requesting Parkinson's Disease information and connecting them to community resources.
  • Lead support groups.
  • Provide educational programs developed for People with Parkinson’s Disease (PWP), care partners and the local community.
  • Maintain a database of Parkinson’s Disease specific community resources and referrals to PwP, family members and health care professionals. 
  • Provide supportive services for care partners and other significant family members
• Assistance with scheduling and support of Parkinson Disease patient educational events.
• Orient patients to the health center and input demographic and insurance information on arrival.
• Evaluate medical documentation and submit relevant information to insurance companies for prior authorization of rehabilitative services.
• Answer patient calls and messages and respond appropriately. Assist patients with scheduling of appointments.
• Perform other functions and duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors’ degree is required.

• Trained in healthcare (e.g., nursing, social work, PT, OT or speech therapy).

• Medical office experience preferred including use of an electronic medical record.

• Must be highly organized and dependable.

• Background in fitness (personal training, physical therapy aide and/or boxing experience is preferred).

• Ability to lead a group exercise class, virtually and in-person.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.
