Project Overview
New York Pilates is seeking a creative, innovative, and highly skilled Instructional Designer to own our Instructor Training Audit and Improvement Project. This project aims to conduct a thorough audit of New York Pilates' existing Mat and Reformer Instructor Training courses and identify areas for improvement to create and enhance digital learning experiences for our Instructor Training Certification programs.
We want to take our program to the next level, and the ideal candidate will enhance our material to make it fun, digestible, and engaging! The Instructional Designer will bring expertise in curriculum design for the fitness industry and has a deep understanding of online pedagogy and instructional technologies to design engaging, interactive, and scalable learning solutions. In this opportunity you will create a comprehensive roadmap to implement recommended changes, collaborating with Heather Andersen, NYP Owner and Founder, and the Instructor Training team. This role requires a strong understanding of instructional design principles, course creation for fitness learners, and familiarity with digital learning management systems (LMS).
This is an opportunity for part-time (>
20 hours / week), contract work. Remote location in the US, New York City preferred.
Project Part 1 : Content & Platform Audit
Assess the effectiveness and accessibility of the Mat and Reformer training courses, ensuring alignment with learning outcomes and user experience goals.
- Audit of Existing E-Learning Content : Review and evaluate all videos, written content, quizzes, and other interactive elements in both the Mat (50 hours) and Reformer (50 hours) Training programs.
- Platform & Hosting Assessment : Evaluate the effectiveness of the current hosting platform (LearnDash, integrated with WordPress and AWS) and determine if they are optimal for user experience, scalability, and program needs.
- Community & Engagement Elements : Review existing community-building elements within the program (e.g., discussion forums, peer interactions) and assess their effectiveness in promoting learner engagement.
- Content Organization & Usability : Assess the user-friendliness of the platform to determine ease of navigation and logical flow. Considering content organization, accessibility across desktop, mobile, and app-based interfaces.
- Report & Recommendations : Prepare a report summarizing findings from each audit area above and provide recommended changes and improvements.
Part 2 : Implementation Roadmap & Execution
Develop an actionable, phased plan to address audit findings and implement recommended changes to enhance the learning experience and content accessibility.

Things we take into account when calculating the compensation are global averages per skillset, your local cost of living, your skills, and your experience. Based on tenure and experience the hourly rate for this position will be between $30-$50 / hour.
