Job Posting: Digital Communications and Media Specialist (Full-Time)

Salary: $52,000 - $57,000
Position Summary
The Digital Communications and Media Specialist will lead the development, execution, and day-to-day
management of the Assemblymember’s digital communications strategy. This includes creating engaging
content across all media platforms, supporting legislative and district initiatives, managing media
relations, and ensuring consistent and impactful messaging to amplify the Assemblymember’s work and
voice.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Communications
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications plan that aligns with both the legislative and district agendas.
- Work collaboratively with press and media outlets to support coverage of key initiatives and events.
- Manage responses to community crises, breaking news, and urgent legislative developments.
Social Media & Content Creation
- Create and manage content across all platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X), including video, photo, and written content.
- Attend community events to capture live content and develop compelling stories highlighting the Assemblymember’s work.
- Maintain a consistent and authentic voice and brand across platforms.
Media & Press Engagement
- Pitch stories, interviews, and op-eds to local and state media outlets.
- Maintain and update press lists; manage the drafting and distribution of press releases.
- Coordinate interviews and media requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Writing & Editorial
- Draft talking points, remarks, op-eds, newsletters, and sponsor memos in collaboration with legislative and district staff.
- Assist in aligning all written materials with broader messaging goals and strategic priorities.
Graphic & Digital Design
- Design graphics, flyers, and visual content using platforms like Canva to support events,
- legislative initiatives, and community outreach.
- Create digital toolkits including RSVP links, event materials, and press collateral.
Analytics & Reporting
- Track and analyze engagement and performance metrics across all digital platforms.
- Use insights to refine strategy and maximize outreach impact.
Email & CRM Management
- Use platforms like Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or other CRMs to manage mailing lists, launch campaigns, and track engagement.
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in digital communications, public relations, or media strategy.
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong civic and political awareness.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Graphic design and social media content creation experience.
- Proficient in Google & Microsoft Office Suite and CRM platforms.
- Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Spanish fluency is a strong plus.
Work Environment
- Full-time, in-person role based in the Bronx office.
- Travel to community events, press conferences, and meetings within the district.
