What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lifeguard Meacham Lake Campground position at New York State Department of Environmental Conservation?
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is hiring a lifeguard for Meacham Lake Campground in Duane, New York.
Required Qualifications:
- Be at least 15 years of age at the time of employment.
- Possess current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent.
- Possess current certification in the American Red Cross Waterfront Module or equivalent.
- Possess a certificate in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent.
- All required certifications must be kept current for the duration of employment.
- Meet all required medical and vision standards. Vision must be 20/70 uncorrected or better.
The DEC is running recertification courses for lifeguards with soon to expire lifeguard certifications. The course is free of charge for those who work the 2023 season at a DEC beach.
Housing or site accommodations may be available for this location.
Job Requirements
Lifeguards are responsible for:
- Guarding the area to which assigned.
- Understand the rules and regulations which apply to Department of Environmental Conservation swimming areas and ensuring that these rules and regulations are observed by people using the bathing facility.
- Preventing accidents and effecting rescues.
- Maintaining a high level of physical and mental fitness by participating in an active in-service training program.
- Making detailed written reports to their supervisors on all accidents and rescues.
- Performing other duties as assigned in inclement weather.
- All tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.
