Duties Description
Responsibilities vary according to assignment. Positions are located in various Divisions of the Wadsworth Center with public health responsibilities in the areas of infectious disease, genetic disorders and environmental testing. Duties may include sample and reagent preparation, assisting in the collection and analysis of data, operation of laboratory equipment, general laboratory maintenance and special projects.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
On or before the date of appointment, candidates must have successfully completed six college credit hours in the natural sciences (chemistry, biology or physics). Three credits MUST be in chemistry. College credits must have been received from a regionally accredited college or university, or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable educational practices.
Preferred Qualifications: On or before the date of appointment, preferred candidates will have successfully completed twelve college credits in the natural sciences.
Additional Comments
Seasonal, hourly employment for the summer--approximately three months. Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved in these positions, candidates who accept appointment may be required to wear personal protective equipment, undergo pre-employment and periodic health evaluations, and receive specific immunizations.
