Duties Description
The Wadsworh Centers, Environmental Laboratory Approval Program (ELAP) oversees greater than 400 laboratories that test environmental samples for contaminants that are harmful to public health. ELAP safeguards the accuracy of testing by ensuring laboratory compliance with state and federal regulations. This position requires evaluation of proficiency testing data for all methods and analytes tested by regulated laboratories; communication with regulated laboratories and external entities; assisting the program with updates and revisions to external facing information, including regulation; maintaining documentation and updating the program database; and additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in natural sciences and three years of post-degree professional research experience in the appropriate field; or a Master's degree in the appropriate field and two years of such experience; or a doctorate in the appropriate field.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience communicating professionally with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds; strong writing and verbal skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to problem solve effectively; knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulation for laboratory testing.
Additional Comments
Since exposure to potentially hazardous substances may be involved with this position, the selected candidate will be required to wear personal protective clothing and equipment, and may undergo pre-employment and/or periodic health evaluations and receive specific immunizations. In addition, dependent upon the initial assignment or subsequent reassignment of this position satisfactory background checks may be required.
