Minimum Qualifications
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
Non-Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of clerical experience.
Promotion Minimum Qualifications:
- One year of Permanent Competitive or 55b/c service as an Office Assistant 1; OR
- One year of clerical experience.
Competitive Minimum Qualifications:
- Current NYS employee eligible for transfer under the provisions of NYS Civil Service Laws, Rules, & Regulations; OR
- Reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title and location.

Duties Description
The incumbent must be able to perform the following essential functions:
- Perform office support and entry-level clerical work to meet the requirements of agency programs, including processing transactions and maintaining records in a variety of organizational settings.
- Operate office equipment such as printers, photocopiers, fax machines and calculators.
- Oversee process and manage staff processing sales inventory
- Maintain tracking spreadsheets
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, understand and carry out instructions, resolve work problems with supervisory assistance, cooperate with other units and teams.
- Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems programs, such as Excel, Word, Outlook and other operation systems specific to ORPTS
- Adhere to the Department's time and attendance rules and regulations.
