The Office of the Attorney General is seeking qualified candidates for a Detective Investigator position in the White
Plains office. Candidates should be hard-working, motivated and committed to public service on behalf of the people
of the State of New York.
The role of the OCTF is to conduct complex, long-term investigations into various types of organized criminal activity.
Many of the Unit’s investigations involve multiple jurisdictions and utilize advanced and specialized investigative
techniques such as physical surveillance; court authorized eavesdropping of telephones, businesses, vehicles, and
computers; execution of search and arrest warrants; and utilization of digital and technical equipment. The nature
of the investigations conducted by OCTF includes traditional and non-traditional organized crime. This includes
investigations into gambling, loan sharking, extortion, narcotics, gun trafficking, human trafficking, and money
laundering, among other criminal activity.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have at least ten years of law enforcement experience and current NYS basic police school certification.
- Must have the ability to drive a vehicle and possess a valid NYS driver’s license.
- The Public Officer’s Law requires that police officers at the OAG be citizens of the United States and reside in
- Expertise conducting physical surveillance.
- Experience investigating the following types of cases: narcotics, gun trafficking, fraud, white collar and
- Experience investigating traditional and non-traditional organized crime activities.
- Experience working as an undercover or conducting undercover investigations.
- Experience testifying in grand juries and/or trials in state and federal jurisdictions.
- Experience as an affiant on search warrants and eavesdropping warrants and knowledgeable of the criteria
- Demonstrated progressive assumption of responsibility or initiative leading work groups towards organizational
goals or objectives (I.e. served as lead investigator on complex cases or was point of contact to other agencies
on task forces etc.)
- Experience working directly with law enforcement/government offices on the local, state and federal levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in a second language.
- Experience working in a law enforcement task force environment.
- Having established contacts within the law enforcement community serving the local office of the OCTF and the
- Knowledge of and experience navigating various social media platforms.
The annual salary for this position is $75,348. Appointments in White Plains receive an additional $3,400 location pay. This position
is overtime eligible. Performance of the duties may require frequent, unscheduled work on evenings and weekends
and requires 24/7 availability. This position is in the exempt class, and incumbents serve at the pleasure of the
Attorney General.
