JOB DESCRIPTION
Instructional Designer with a minimum of three years of recent experience with instructional design strategies and methodologies, media design, evaluation, and learner analysis. Experience creating online and blended instructional course content using learning management systems, web-based instructional technology, e-learning platforms, graphic programs, and multimedia technology. Proficiency in using instructional design tools, storyboards and prototypes. Experience effectively developing and assessment of online course curriculum design using the Online Learning Consortium (OLC) or Quality Matters design and evaluation processes. Higher ed experience required.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide pedagogical and instructional design consultation and support to faculty in effectively delivering instruction, including eLearning courses, training manuals, and instructional videos. Apply adult learning theories and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, ASSURE,), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and Universal Design for Learning Guidelines (UDL) knowledge.
- Develop instructional strategies and recommend appropriate learning tools to achieve course objectives based on education research and best practices. Conduct needs assessments to identify skill gaps and training requirements. Provide faculty training based on college curricular priorities, student learning outcomes assessment, accessibility, and best design practices.
- Collaborate with Dean’s/Department Chairs, and with SMEs to gather content and ensure content accuracy and assist in translating complex concepts into learner-friendly materials/content. Develop timelines, track project milestones, and ensure deliverables are met.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and learner demographics. Evaluates new pedagogical and technology-mediated learning initiatives and make recommends on implementation to develop and deliver innovative, dynamic and effective design, sequencing of instruction, use of assessments, and interactive and engaging learning. Integrate multimedia elements such as graphics, videos, and animations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business objectives and learner demographics. Evaluates new pedagogical and technology-mediated learning initiatives and make recommends on implementation to develop and deliver innovative, dynamic and effective design, sequencing of
- instruction, use of assessments, and interactive and engaging learning. Integrate multimedia elements such as graphics, videos, and animations.
- Analyze and report on technology effectiveness. Review courses for Online Learning Consortium (OLC) or Quality Matters standards.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or Educational Technology or equivalent degree with proven experience. Master’s degree preferred. Knowledge of the following Technology:
Learning Management Systems (LMS) experience – preferred Jenzabar: eLearning, JICS, (Moodle, BbUltra/Learn, Canvas), HTML5/SCORM, iSpring Suite, Microsoft Teams. Nice to have: Powtoon, Audacity, Filmora, Adobe Creative, Canva, Acrobat Pro, Kahoot, Quizlet, and other technologies.
