The Billing Coordinator works on an as needed basis and reports to the Physician Practice Director and will perform the following job responsibilities:
- Billing accurate electronic and paper claims to insurance or patient
- Reviews clinical documentation to ensure support for codes billed
- Edit appropriate modifier usage & diagnosis codes for accurate claims submission
- Reviews all rejected claims for corrections
- Applying patient payments to claims created
- Answer inbound billing phone calls as needed
- Maintains confidentiality of all patient and financial information.
- Adheres to company policy in maintaining an acceptable attendance/tardy record
- Processing patient credit card payments and posting to accounts.
- The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced, information-rich environment, where attention to detail and accuracy are essential. The ability to effectively multi-task is a must.
Requirements
- High School Diploma
- 1-3 years’ experience in medical billing and collections
- Knowledge of reimbursement guidelines, CPT and ICD-10codes, payor contracts and plans
