Full Time: Health/Wellness Teacher Grades 9-12 Newburyport High School Newburyport High School seeks a 1.0 Wellness (Health and Physical Education) Instructor. The ideal candidate should hold a health and PE license in Massachusetts. This position will focus on social emotional health while laying the foundation to maintain a healthy lifestyle. The successful candidate will: • Plan engaging lessons in order to implement the wellness & health curriculum for grades 9 & 10 • Evaluate individual students using department-developed common assessment tools, maintain up-to-date records of student progress • Create an atmosphere of mutual support in which collaboration many activities will focus upon 21st century skills such as, problem solving, communication, encouragement and interpersonal skills. • Collaborate with members of the PreK-12 Wellness & Health department to review, develop and execute a rigorous curriculum aligned to the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks. • Develop, model, and practice classroom procedures and routines. • Modify instructional practices to meet individual student needs. • Communicate high expectations for all learners, as well as realistic and consistent expectations for student behavior and apply appropriate consequences.
