Newman Stewart is seeking a talented Risk Management Specialist to join our client’s team, focusing on the US Power and US Gas markets. Key Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and monitor risks in the US Power and US Gas business.
- Design and maintain risk reports to monitor key identified risks and adapt monitoring as market dynamics change.
- Coordinate, implement, evolve, and communicate risk reports.
- Collaborate with the team and communicate effectively with the desk to understand positioning and current market conditions.
- Define and implement bespoke stress tests based on market conditions deterioration and specific risk quantification for communication to Senior Risk Management and Commercial teams.
- Define and monitor predictive scenarios for portfolio risk to provide better intuition to management and the desk as market conditions evolve.
- Code in Python, handle databases, and leverage data visualisation software (Tableau/PowerBI) for effective presentation of metrics daily in dashboards.
- Undertake assessments of a wide range of transactions, carrying out modelling and analysis, as necessary.
- Communicate results effectively with traders and senior management.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or above.
- Experience in US Power and US Gas market risk.
- Highly numerate, with good problem-solving and analytical skills.
- High coding skills, notably in Python, essential.
- Good communication skills – must be able to understand others’ perspectives and relate complex ideas to different groups, including senior management.
- Ability to challenge proposals constructively to ensure they are robust, while maintaining excellent working relationships.
- Must be able to work collegially in a team, flexibly handling a wide range of potential issues.
- Capable of working with significant autonomy and ensuring analysis is focused on delivering practical business benefits, often under tight deadlines.
