The salary range offered for this role is USD $172,500 to 241,500. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidate’s salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.
This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the company’s performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.

Your impact
Work as part of the Enterprise Environmental team to incorporate environment management requirements into for early projects, studies, exploration, operations, legacy and business planning.
As part of our team you will
- Embed environmental management (standards, guidelines, systems and processes) across the business with a focus on exploration, Greenfields projects, legacy, business planning, resource/reserves and due diligence.
- Work closely with other functions to understand environmental risk and develop mitigations to address.
- Deliver subject matter expertise to support responsible and effective environmental management across the business as needed working closely with Enterprise Environmental SMEs.
- Provide support for Enterprise Environmental programs (water, waste, biodiversity and climate). This includes direct support to Enterprise Environmental SMEs on deliver as needed.
- Support compliance and assurance programs (LOD2 audits), business readiness and other environmental programs. Liaison on committees and other groups as needed to alignment on Newmont environmental requirements.
- Support teams to optimize environmental plans for early studies, Greenfields, and exploration, embed integration into their work that meets conformance and compliance requirements working with the BU.
- Establish the interface with Exploration and Greenfields teams to set objectives or criteria to handle environmental challenges lead to generate strategies and execution plans on how to address those challenges collaborate with BU Environmental Performance Director. This includes an initial focus on understanding environmental risk and uplifting work on environmental reporting within legacy and exploration.
- Deliver Quality Control (QC) early study processes and findings, establish alignment with Newmont Standards and business strategy – supporting environmental peer review and variance process for operations, projects and studies.
- Engage with Corporate SMEs for Environment to embed sustainability into Greenfields projects, legacy and exploration, collaborate with BUs to track progress on performance improvements.
- Advance training and capacity building programs for environmental management for the organization. This includes the capabilities matrix and other tools that optimize the business.
- University degree in environmental science / engineering, law, or related field (chemistry, geology, metallurgy).
- Knowledge of Environmental laws and regulations with experience in implementing international practices relevant to mining operations, exploration, environmental risk management, compliance and permitting.
- Experience in development of environmental management studies, permits and other programs to embed requirements into operations.
- Knowledge of legislation and standards in different regulatory settings, permitting, monitoring and management of performance for safety, environment, and social performance.
- Advanced proficiency in updating and undertaking detailed technical and legal compliance audits, reporting gaps and improvements.
- Advanced proficiency in incorporating regulatory and best-fit practices into environment and permitting policies, assessment standards, monitoring processes and reporting system.
- Advanced proficiency in supporting operational leadership and technical and project teams to incorporate environmental matters and risks into their work.
- Competent commercial skills: budgets, forecasting, planning, analysis, reporting and communicating results.
- The preferred location for this position is the corporate headquarters in Denver, CO but qualified candidates in proximity to our operations or regional offices are also encouraged to apply.

- If this position is hired in British Columbia the applicable pay range is CAD 180,000 to 252,000
