Purpose
Bring your knowledge of underground mining and passionate mentoring skills to develop and influence a safe and successful mine production team while supporting Newmont values.
Essential Duties
- Direct and manage daily crew activity to achieve safe, efficient, and optimal production, focused on production targets and associated cost constraints by pursuing opportunities of continuous improvement.
- Effectively interface with other departments and contractors in pursuit of mine site production goals.
- Understand and follow engineering mine plans and engage in productive communication with the planning engineers and surveyors.
- Drive "Safe Work Performance" with clear and concise communication of the safe and efficient use of mining and associated support equipment including task training of mining and support equipment operators.
- Proficiently operate and engage the workforce in the accurate use of the Pitram Mine Management Control System.
- Motivate, coach, and develop employees while ensuring compliance with all company policies/procedures, holding crew accountable for adherence.
- Responsible for accurate compilation and submittal of employee time sheets.
- Evaluate daily crew performance and complete formal reviews as needed.
- Ensure all reporting is accurately completed in a timely manner (HSLP, CPI’s, Environmental, daily shift log, HR, and crew documentation.)
- Insist on and demonstrate teamwork, as well as honest and transparent communication among the crew and across all mine site operational functions.

Training & Experience
- Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of experience or eight (8) years of mining experience.
- Leadership abilities and values must be developed and demonstrated
- Experience as an effective lead person an asset
