Overview
Newport Beachside is undergoing a full transformation —Soon to relaunch as The Sunny, we’re looking for an experienced, people-first Director of Human Resources to help lead this transition and build the team that will bring our new identity to life.
This is a hands-on role focused on shaping service standards, strengthening culture, and creating consistency as we rebrand. You’ll work closely with department heads to develop and implement training programs that reflect The Sunny’s values and service style. We’re looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality, experienced in guiding teams through change, and confident setting clear expectations.

Responsibilities
- Leading recruitment and onboarding efforts for both current and new roles tied to the rebranding
- Developing and rolling out service training and behavioral standards across all departments
- Creating and leading team member orientation to set the tone for The Sunny’s culture from day one
- Supporting department leaders with coaching, documentation, and employee relations
- Managing payroll processes and partnering with department heads to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Driving employee engagement, retention, and recognition initiatives
- Ensuring compliance with labor laws, company policies, and union contracts
- Acting as a visible and approachable resource for team members and leaders across the hotel
Qualifications
- A strong HR leader with hotel experience (5 years preferred)
- Someone who thrives in an evolving environment and knows how to keep teams focused and motivated during change
- Experienced in training design, orientation facilitation, and service culture development
- Skilled in employee relations, recruiting, coaching, payroll, and compliance
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
