Position: Catering Sales Manager
Department: Sales Department
Reports to: Director of Sales
Position Summary:
The Hotel Catering Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales efforts in the hotel, alongside the Director of Sales, with a primary focus on generating revenue from event hosting, food and beverage; and other services. This role involves managing relationships with clients, meeting and exceeding revenue goals, as well as coordinating service and activities related to the sales function to maximize customer satisfaction and overall profitability. The Catering Sales Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Sales to ensure the hotel achieves its business objectives. Manages sales areas according to NHG standards to achieve a professional rapport within the business community.

Primary Responsibilities:
Sales Development:
  • Assists the Director of Sales with development of effective sales strategies to achieve the hotel's revenue goals in regards to group rooms and function space.
  • Identify new market opportunities and drive sales for catering services.
  • Work with the sales team to promote catering services to both new and existing clients.
  • Ensure that revenue and budget goals for catering are being met or exceeded.
  • Prepare reports, as requested, to develop a more informative database for improved management decision-making and critical evaluation of work activities.
Client Account Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, travel agents, and other key partners.
  • Negotiate contracts for group rooms, events, and other services, etc. ensuring profitability and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with clients to plan and customize events, including menus, services styles, and event details with fully executed BEO. Develop and manage event timelines, ensuring smooth execution of each event
  • Coordinate with operations team (including food & beverage team) to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Oversee the set-up and breakdown of events, ensuring they meet both client and hotel standards.
  • Attend industry networking events, trade shows, and conferences to enhance the property’s community image and stays abreast of competition and new developments
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction for all clients, groups, and events.
Event & Group Sales:
  • Work with the Director of Sales and Food & Beverage Team to create and update catering menus.
  • Oversee the sales efforts for meetings, conferences, and special events; Control dates, availability, and rates on guest rooms and function space.
  • Coordinate with operation and food & beverage teams to ensure the smooth execution of group bookings and events.
Market Analysis:
  • Continuously monitor the competition and customer preferences.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and best practices in sales and hospitality.
  • Analyze customer feedback and sales data to identify areas for improvement.
Collaboration with Hotel Operations:
  • Ensure seamless communication between sales, front desk, and housekeeping to meet guest needs.
  • Keep the Director of Sales promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt corrective action can be taken when appropriate.
Performs all accountabilities promptly and efficiently, following established company policy and projecting a favorable image of the hotel and NHG.

Job Specifications:
Educational/Vocational Preparation: A bachelor’s degree in hotel/restaurant management or marketing is preferred. A combination of vocational sales training and /or on-the-job training may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
Essential Skills: This position requires a strong understanding of relevant franchise standards and procedures. The candidate must have expertise in hotel sales, including the development of sales objectives, budgeting, forecasting, marketing plan, understanding room rates, function space pricing, availability, and market segment knowledge. Additionally, management and supervisory experience is essential, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate must be capable of professionally representing the property to both guests and the local community.
Physical Demands: Requires ability to stand/walk for significant periods. Requires ability to travel frequently to outside companies, sales seminars, and conferences. Requires ability to communicate both orally and in writing to guests and members of the maintenance/hotel staff/ guests. Requires ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holiday and unusual hours.
Environmental Conditions: Inside 80% and Outside 20% performing sales calls. Full-time position, with flexibility in hours, including evenings and weekends, depending on business needs. Occasional travel for client meetings, industry events, and sales opportunities.
