Equipment Operator

Job Duties 

To understand and observe all of Carroll Concrete Co./Newport Sand & Gravel Co., Inc.’s policies and procedures including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Training Manual, SAFE Policy, Safety Manual and Drug Free Work Place Manual. 

Summary 

The Equipment Operator is responsible for safe and efficient operation of equipment including Loaders, Excavators, Yard Dump Trucks, and other various pieces of equipment. A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but not required.  

Primary Duties & Responsibilities 

1. Safe operation of equipment  
2. Follows MSHA, EPA and all other applicable regulations 
3. Manual labor 
4. Proper cleaning of equipment inside and outside 
5. Perform pre and post trip inspections 
6. Prepare Daily Inspection Reports 
7. Weekly and general vehicle maintenance (as per the Vehicle Maintenance Schedule) 
8. Plant/Yard maintenance and housekeeping duties as assigned 
9. Understand and observe Carroll Concrete Company’s policies and procedures regarding customer relations  
10. Environmentally responsible at all times 
11. Attends and participates in weekly plant safety huddles 

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities 

1. Other duties and tasks as directed 
2. Always represent the company in a professional manner  
3. Work in a safe and efficient manner at all time 

Desired Qualifications 

Education: High School Education or equivalent 

Skills:  

1. Must be dependable, a team player, have good communication skills and be safety conscious  
2. Must be able to work professionally with others and fosters a positive team environment 
3. Common sense, good judgement and willingness to work 

Experience:  

Equipment operating experience is a must 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: 

Must have a valid driver’s license 

A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred 

Restrictions: 

1. Must maneuver in and out of equipment safely 
2. Operate all equipment controls safely and accurately   
3. Perform multiple tasks of sustained viewing activity while operating equipment and maneuvering controls 
4. Must lift or maneuver up to 75lbs. multiple times throughout the workday 
5. Must perform manual labor throughout the workday 
6. Must work flexible hours, as necessary 

Part of the Equipment Operator’s job will be “other” tasks/duties as assigned or as necessary.
