Small Business Lending, LLC. is looking to add a Portfolio Manager/Underwriter to its team.
The Portfolio Manager/Underwriter will use business expertise and industry knowledge to evaluate risk and make credit and loan structure recommendations based on extensive due diligence of collateral, borrower, sponsors and market expertise. The Portfolio Manager/Underwriter will manage transactions independently and will generally work on larger and more complex situations. The Portfolio Manager/Underwriter will actively monitor loans during and post construction as well as a portfolio of existing traditional term loans by addressing loan extensions/modifications, collection of financial data, and preparing annual reviews.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (other duties may be assigned as needed)
Prepares and presents thorough credit memorandums summarizing transaction fundamentals, credit analysis including risks and mitigants, and due diligence for new and existing owner-occupied CRE loan transactions. Makes recommendations on transaction risk rating and loan structure to mitigate identified risks.
Corresponds with borrowers, construction department, 504 department, third-party department and loan brokers to obtain and/or clarify project and borrower related information for new loan origination and existing loan portfolio.
Maintain high quality business by actively managing risk and identifying business opportunities through strong credit analysis and active portfolio management.
Works closely with loan closers, internal counsel, construction department, third party department and others to resolve credit related issues during the loan origination, closing and construction processes.
Addresses loan modification and extension requests.
Responsible for obtaining current financial information, monitoring of ongoing financial performance and risk ratings, preparing annual reviews, and serving as the point of contact for all areas during the construction process.
Develops working knowledge of existing customers and prospects to monitor ongoing customer performance and ability to pay. Makes appropriate recommendations to reduce risk for past due accounts, matured loans or others exhibiting potential credit weakness.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Minimum of five (5) years of credit underwriting experience to include underwriting of owner-occupied CRE construction loans (knowledge of 504 product preferred)
Demonstrated ability to accurately assess corporate creditworthiness and risks, and create a detailed and thorough underwriting package
Effective risk management, analytical and communications skills
Strong attention to detail
Ability to plan, multi-task, manage time effectively, and work independently with limited direction
Education and Certification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Salary Range: $100,000 to $140,000 annually subject to relevant experience
