POSITION TITLE: Language Arts (English) and or Math – (Gr. 7 & 8 Combined) - Summer Academic Enrichment
LOCATION: Newtown High School
START DATE: June 30, 2025
SALARY RANGE: $50/Hour or teacher per diem; whichever is greater. $50/Hour for non-district staff.
Qualifications:
- Valid Connecticut (7-12) Teaching Certification and or Reading/Language Arts Certification required (015), (215),
- Deep understanding of effective language arts and or math instructional strategies.
- Effective classroom management skills required.
- Previous classroom experience required.
- Strong and effective communication skills required.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of students, individually and in small groups.
- Ability to collaborate and share in the management of a classroom as a part of a two-person team.
- Commitment to promoting a positive culture for students and other staff.
- High regard for confidentiality.
Responsibilities:
- Implement and design Language Arts/Math activities and lessons for students. This is a co-taught position.
- Teachers will be responsible for designing and implementing creative enrichment opportunities for students
- Work with students individually or in small groups throughout the program to ensure engagement and
- Provide an individual, written evaluation at the end of the program for parents of participants, with a copy for
- Teachers will also lead physical activities and or art activities during the program day.
- Commitment to the following schedule: June 30 – July 24, 2025 (Monday –Thursday). Planned time off during
- Program hours on the above referenced dates are 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. An additional, half-hour (0.5) is
- Perform your duties and responsibilities, as described in the district’s Teacher Job Description.
- Maintain the districts expected code of conduct and ethics.
- Provide a safe and nurturing learning environment for all learners.
- Other activities as assigned by the Program Administrator and or Director of Continuing Education.
- This program is dependent on enrollment.
