Position: Technology Database Support Technician
Location: District Technology Office, Municipal Center
Reports to: Director of Technology
Start Date: Immediate
Remuneration: $29.06/hour (reduced by 3% during 90-day probationary period)

Position Overview:
The Technology Database Support Technician supports the District Database Administrator and
school staff in managing and maintaining the district’s student information systems (SIS). This
role ensures accurate student data management, assists with state reporting, supports system
integrations, and provides guidance to end users on PowerSchool and related applications.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Information System (SIS) Management:
Maintain accurate student records across PowerSchool, PowerSchool Enrollment, and
other district-used SIS platforms.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with district and state requirements.
Assist with data synchronization between PowerSchool and other databases, such as
Clever, Mosaic, SNAP Health Center, and learning applications such as Lexia, IXL, and
iReady.
Monitor and update student data, including registration, transfers, English Learner (EL)
status, Free/Reduced Lunch eligibility, and Special Education/504 status.
Implement and support the annual student online registration process, troubleshooting
issues for schools and parents.
Assist with start-of-year and end-of-year SIS updates, including student health (SNAP)
and cafeteria (Mosaic) databases.
State & Compliance Reporting:
Manage State of Connecticut (CT) reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate
data submission.
Work with district departments to validate, certify, and distribute required state reports.
Support pupil services in managing student data for state reporting, including outplaced
and SPED student records.
User Support & Training:
Provide support to administrators, staff, students, and parents on PowerSchool and
district applications.
Assist staff with School Messenger, troubleshooting contact issues, messaging methods,
and generating reports.
Train and guide end users on routine PowerSchool functions and reporting features.

Data Integration & Coordination:
Monitor and resolve data sync issues with Clever and other educational applications.
Collaborate with the business office to maintain accurate Free/Reduced Lunch data
between Mosaic and PowerSchool for federal and state reporting.
Coordinate with photography vendors to ensure student and staff data is updated for
picture days and ID card distribution for elementary students.
Qualifications & Skills:
Experience with PowerSchool or similar Student Information Systems preferred.
Understanding how databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL
Server work.
Familiarity with state reporting requirements and educational data management.
Understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and district policies.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot database and SIS-related
issues.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to train end users.
